Attorney Selwyn Pieters, who represents President Irfaan Ali, acknowledged that he notified opposition figure Azruddin Mohamed about potential legal consequences regarding a specific social media publication. This communication followed a post that targeted the head of state. Despite confirming that he reported the account to the platform, Pieters explicitly rejected allegations suggesting he played a part in the later decision by Meta to remove several pages linked to Mohamed. The lawyer clarified his actions were limited to addressing the content involving his client, distancing himself from the broader administrative actions taken by the technology company against the opposition leader's digital presence.
