Dr. Vincent Adams, the former head of Guyana's Environmental Protection Agency, has publicly accused the national government of failing to comply with environmental regulations concerning the Wales Gas-to-Energy initiative. According to Adams, the administration bypassed mandatory procedures by advancing the project without conducting a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment. He maintains that such a study is a legal requirement that cannot be ignored. Despite these criticisms and the ongoing legal concerns, construction activities for the first phase of the infrastructure development continue to move forward. Adams insists that the authorities must halt current progress to ensure that the necessary environmental evaluations are properly completed in accordance with established national standards.
