A collaborative study conducted by the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the World Trade Organization highlights that Guyana faces significant risks of exclusion from the growing digital economy. Although the nation maintains relatively accessible internet services, the report indicates that the country has not yet adopted essential international frameworks necessary to streamline and support digital commerce. Experts suggest that without integrating into these global systems, Guyana may struggle to remain competitive in the evolving technological landscape. The findings emphasize the urgent need for the government to align its policies with international standards to foster digital growth and ensure the country does not miss out on the economic opportunities presented by the rapid expansion of digital trade markets worldwide.
