Tensions escalated in the Vigilance community, East Coast Demerara, this Tuesday night. Local residents engaged in acts of civil unrest, including the burning of a truck, following the recent detention of family members of Mark Cromwell. Cromwell, an individual currently under United States sanctions, is a person of interest in an ongoing investigation regarding the disappearance of two Surinamese citizens. The missing individuals, identified as Van Dalen Lorenzo and another person, reportedly vanished after crossing the border into Guyana. Authorities apprehended Cromwell's wife and brother as part of their inquiries into the case, a move that triggered a hostile reaction from the local population. Law enforcement officials remain involved in the situation as the investigation into the whereabouts of the missing foreign nationals continues.
